1. Will it use any type of regular kernels from the grocery store? Or are special kernels required?

No special popcorn required. Your results might vary depending on the brand you choose.

2. Do you need oil to pop the corn?

No; No; I often just use plain popcorn and it works fine. You may just use plain popcorn and it works fine.

3. Is this intended for use in the microwave, or by stovetop? Or does it work both ways?

4. Product description says FDA approved - what is FDA approved? Is the product or manufacturing process?

FDA is the Food and Drug Administration. FDA approved means the federal agency of USA approved the product.

5. Can I use it as salad bowl or store some kinds of food?

Of course! Our bowl with lid is absolutely universal. You can use it for any reason including any kind of food!

6. If you burn popcorn; how do you get the smell out of these?!

Don't know as I've never burned any popcorn in my microwave popper. However when I put it in the microwave I stand nearby during the popping and make sure that the popper is removed shortly after the popping stops. Makes great popcorn - my microwave has a setting for "popcorn" but have never bothered to check the actual popping time. I would think that a good soaking of soap and warm water then a good scrubbing with same would remove any burnt smell. Or try a soaking with vinegar then wash with soap and water.

7. What material is the lid made out of?

The lid is made of platinum food grade silicone likewise the bowl. It fits loosely inside the bowl so that it can rise with the popcorn and keep the popcorn from falling out.

8. Is this made in the USA?

SiliCONE is designed in Ukraine and manufactured in China by the same supplier that produces silicone products for Big Box brands, as well as similar silicone popcorn makers sold on Amazon. 9. Can you pop less kernels in it, like 1/4c?

Absolutely! We find that 1/4 cup takes slightly less time to heat than 1/3 cup, and is a great portion for 1 person. For a 900 watt microwave it takes about 3 min 30s for 1/4 cup. For 1000w to 1200w microwaves it should take 2 minutes. You always need to be mindful about how long you have it in the microwave.
. Does this fit in smaller microwaves?
The exact measurements of the bowl are 9.5" (width with handles) x 7.5" (length) x 5.7" height. The knob on the lid will add another 1" with the bowl full of popcorn.

11. What is the size (diameter) of just the bottom portion? (when opened) ?

12. Can I make sorghum popcorn in this popper?

It will work with sorghum popcorn but the heating times may be different. We would suggest starting at 2 minutes and then 30 second intervals thereafter until you achieve your desired heating time.

13. How many cups of popped popcorn does it make? How much popcorn after it pops?

14. Easy to wash?

Very easy. Hot water and dish soap in the sink and it is done. The silicon makes cleaning easy.
